PMInnovia is a pilot initiative of Philip Morris International (PMI) implemented by NALED. The aim of the project is to encourage open innovation concept in Serbia and provide support to scientists and innovators in developing their ideas and scientific research projects that can be further explored and incorporated by private companies to improve and innovate their own products. The initiative helps scientists find new sources of research funding and drive their innovation to final users.

How it works?

The project introduces an open call for Serbian research teams, innovators and startups to apply with their innovative ideas and help resolve specific challenges relevant for the industry. They can test their ideas’ potential for commercial use.

1° CHALLENGE

Innovative solutions for sustainable magnetic materials

Focus on new / alternative to ferromagnetic material ideally non-metallic, which should be biodegradable or compostable or at least with an improved impact on the environment.

Recognition system for module with fixed and disposable parts

Any kind of technological means to detect and classify the disposable piece under high temperature. The system should be miniaturizable. Any disposable part should be low cost.

The call is OPEN

The call is open to innovators from academia, institutes, startups, from 24 April to 31 May 2024. Selected 20 applications will receive mentor support to improve their ideas and present them at a final presentation. The top 10 teams will receive funding and work on proof of feasibility over a 3-month period.

Philip Morris International
Philip Morris International (PMI) is a leading international tobacco company, working to deliver a smoke-free future by replacing cigarettes evolving its portfolio for the long term to include products outside of the tobacco and nicotine sector. Since 2008, PMI has made a major shift in its work, led by science and innovation, and with the right regulatory encouragement and support from civil society, to develop, scientifically substantiate and commercialize innovative smoke-free products for adults who would otherwise continue to smoke, with the goal of completely ending the sale of cigarettes.
NALED
NALED is the largest private-public association in Serbia whose mission is to harmonize the views of all three sectors of society - private, public and civil and represent their interests in order to more effectively reach the best and comprehensive solutions for encouraging economic development through reforms to improve the economic environment.
